During the photo shoot i took many of horizontal photos and not many vertical. It doesn't look good when you stretch a photo so i decided to use my only vertical photo for my cover. Then for the table of contents i wanted to include the other people i interviewed so that's why i put multiple photos on my table of contents page. Then for my two page article i wanted to show the difference studio lighting can make. So on the first page i put a picture with no studio lighting and on the second page  put the one wit studio lighting. You can definitely see the difference. Between the table of contents and the two page article i changed up the fonts just to show some variety. I didn't want too much writing on the cover of my magazine because i want people to focus on the photograph. After all this is a photography magazine. This is my midterm submission of my photography magazine,Polaroid. 

These are the pictures that i took and that are included in my magazine. I lightened the first picture so that you could see Stephanie's face and the picture wouldn't be so dark. I also lightened up the second picture and put that picture as my cover because fit the best out of the others i took. The other pictures i didn't have to edit at ll if at all because the lighting was good. 

On Thursday, December 29 I went with my dad to Ringling.I was going take all the photos i was going to use with a Polaroid but the lighting/flash on the Polaroid i had was terrible. Most if not all of the pictures i took with that camera came out completely black. After about 5 Polaroids coming out completely my dad gave me a camera to use and it was smooth sailing after that. Most of the pictures i took were of Matthew because he was my feature article. Matthew set up the studio lighting equipment while i took pictures of Sally and Stephanie. The picture of Stephanie could have come out better but the lighting was terrible where we took the pictures. After Matthew set up all the equipment needed i started to take pictures. First i took pictures without the studio lighting then after a while I took pictures with studio lighting and you can definitely see the difference. I thought of specific questions for the photographer i interviewed, Matthew Dalton. My dad knows .him and thought it would be good idea for me to interview Matthew and write an article on him. Matthew was very nice when i interviewed him and gave very descriptive answers. The questions i choose to ask him were: 1. What year are you in and why did you pick photography as your major? 2. What is involved in studio lighting? 3. Do you have a favorite photographer and what is it about their work that stands out for you? 4. Out of all the work you've done do you have a favorite and why? I also interviewed other people from Ringling and asked them personalized questions. I did this so that i could a variety of answers,even though i'm not going to be using their answers in my project. I asked many questions about photography and i learned a lot more about photography just by interviewing them. Since this is a photography magazine if i was going to publish this magazine...

This is my cover page template. I'm going to put a picture/pictures in the background that have Polaroid pictures in them. I will have words on my cover page as seen on the template. I chose the font because it was very different and i think that it will look good with the picture. I also chose the blue color so that the words will pop and not blend in with the picture. 

This is my table of contents template which includes the other people from Ringling College that will be in my magazine. the empty white space will be filled with different pictures that i will take. I only decided to include 4 articles in the table of contents because that's what i saw in the magazines I researched. The articles I included are the main articles i will be focusing on.

This is the flat plan for my magazine. The other articles I won't be featuring will be about other teachers and students from Ringling College of Art and Design. Also some will be about how to take good pictures and the different components. Such as lighting, cameras and location.

This magazines cover has a gray background, probably shot on a beach when a storm was coming or the sun was setting. The title of the magazine is portrayed in big black letters drawing the reader in. Most of the writing is in black but on the bottom there is words written in big blue letters, kind of the same color of the surfboard. On the table of contents page there are five pictures, three small ones, one medium sized one and one rather large one. This pictures are featured on the right side of the page while on the left side the table of contents is written. The pictures are a good size, as in they don't take up too much space so there isn't a lot of room for words/ articles. Some of the ads in the magazine are for a contest the magazine company is having, I found that very interesting. One article in this magazine is dedicated on how to get a job in the photography industry.

This magazine is called Professional Photography. This magazine has been around for over 100 years. Like Digital Photo Pro, this magazine gives tips on how to take the best picture. As i went through this magazine it seemed like every other page had an ad on it. Most of the ads are about new camera's or new camera equipment. Also some of the ads consist of printing places and album places. A page after the table of contents there is a page about who is in charge of the production of this magazine. Then after that there is whole page which is the editors note to the readers. In the edition they have pictures of Kate T. Parker's children and a professional photographer is interviewing her about her thoughts on a project. After this article there is one page articles about nature photography. There is even an article about questions that readers have and professional photographers answer their questions. This magazine consists of 124 pages.

This magazines front cover doesn't have many words on it, only the magazine title is included. The table of contents has one big picture then words written on top of the picture with a white font. The words aren't that prominent and are kind of small. Then on the back of the table of contents it has a letter from the editor and the people in charge of the production of the magazine. Most of the pictures throughout this magazine take up the whole page, if not both pages. The colors throughout this magazine are very vibrant and colorful. There are many different types of articles throughout this magazine from everyday life to girl power. Also the pictures throughout this magazine are very eye catching and beautiful. The target audience for this type of magazine is obviously photographers or aspiring photographers. This magazine company comes out with a new magazine every month. They also give advice on how to survive in the business world when you're a photographer.

This magazine talks about what software edit pictures the best. Also they talk about which camera to use and their reviews on the new ones that have been coming out. The pictures included in this magazine are outstanding, high quality pictures. They also talk about other gear that are included to taking good pictures excluding the camera. Such as lighting, printing, and different camera lenses. Some advertisements that could be in this magazine could be new cameras. Others articles that are included in this magazine are camera/photography techniques. How to take the best pictures no matter where you are. 

This is a photography magazine that looks very interesting to me. Very light colors or used, the background of the magazine is a gray color. Then the text on top of the background is white and brown. This magazine is published four times a year. Also the Photographer originated from Britain. This magazine's target audience is professional photographers and offers the best photos from around the world. This magazine has been around for over 100 years. I can't find any pages other than the cover page for this magazine brand. The Photographer magazine hasn't won any awards. They are a non profit organization that goes around the world to colleges to educate people about photography. In the magazine there are articles on photography tips and tricks because they want to make people better photographers. I got my information from the website all about the Photographer.

I will be doing the magazine. I am a very organized person which makes it a good choice for me. I will be working alone for this project. The type of magazine i'm going to do is photography. Since my dad works in the photography department at Ringling College of Art and Design I probably can interview one of the students that he works with. I will probably take pictures around the college or downtown. After i take all the pictures i need i will edit them then find a template and work on perfecting my magazine. I'm going to call my magazine Polaroid. I think the title is very original and unique. 

I think that the movie choice would be good for me because I like watching movies. I always thought it would be cool to direct or star in a movie. Some challenges i could face is editing problems. Editing can take a long time so that is one of the reasons I want to do a magazine. The films we have seen in class was very well done but then again they were made by experienced directors. I think that making the movie would be a lot of work and i think that a magazine would be easier. Plus i'm working by myself so doing a movie by myself would be definite challenge.

I think that the magazine project would be good for me because i like photography. On my free time i like taking pictures and editing the pictures i take. However there might be some challenges while working on my magazine. For example some pictures might not upload correctly or some pictures might delete. I also think that the magazine is a good fit for me because i'm very organized. I have learned a lot about journalism because of the movies and documentaries we have watched in class. Such as All The Presidents Men and The Newsroom. All The Presidents Men peaked my interest to do a magazine. I liked the characters and how they went the distance to report the news.
